Lovescapes! The Story

My vision through Lovescapes is to create artwork that inspires more vibrancy and joy on people's walls. Each painting I do is informed by my appreciation of nature and my passion for living in the flow of life. My vehicle is vibrant watercolour in uplifting combinations. My use of watercolour busts the old paradigm of washed-out colours and traditional landscapes!

Each of my paintings translates visually into feeling. In other words, my paintings are mood-setters. The moods they invoke are different shades of love: peace, serenity and “giddy happy joy-joy” (as one admirer aptly put it)!

Where did I learn to paint? Watercolourist David Millar has been integral in my artistic evolution. He generously extends his lifetime of accumulated talent and technique as a professional artist and graphic designer to me through private instruction. I grew my foundation in an exceptional high school art program. Beyond that, my mother and artist, Sandy McMullen, continually offers me feedback and inspiration. Finally, I continually experiment, play and teach myself with an eye to developing a style that expresses my unique imprint.

Lovescapes paintings have been shown at the One of a Kind Show 2008, Feast in the Village Gallery, the Grocer's Gallery, the Bayview Art Tour 2007, the LuminaTO festival and at RedEye Gallery in Toronto. My work brightens the walls in numerous private collections. I oblige many custom commissions.

I live in Vancouver where I enjoy time with loved ones, eating well and adventuring in nature.
